Nylon is one of the strongest synthetic materials for craft ropes, offering four to five times the durability of natural fibers. It has excellent resistance to abrasion, UV rays and chemicals, and is also resistant to oil. Ideal for both indoor and outdoor use, this material does not float and absorbs water slightly, which can cause slight shrinkage and a loss of strength of 10% to 15%. Nylon is particularly resistant to impact, easy to handle and offers better resistance to sunlight than other similar synthetic materials.

Twisted nylon string is designed to be stretched between two posts to create a straight, horizontal line, ideal as a guide for laying bricks or fence posts. It should not be used for overhead lifting and should never exceed its safe working load of 8 lbs.
